A senior who was struggling to pass her classes was recently referred to the Kent-Meridian High School Site Coordinator Elisa Aguayo. After an initial meeting, Elisa became her number one motivator. She helped her expand her horizons to clubs like Latino and MeCha, and even becoming a peer leader at the recent La Chispa leadership workshop. Last semester she failed only one class, which was a tremendous success over the four she had failed in the previous year. Passing a majority of her classes has motivated her to want to continue to do well in school. When it comes to supporting students, Elisa said that “being there is what is important.”
